Fairline Targa 58 Sea Trial: Is this the ultimate beach club sportscruiser?

Alex Smith stepped aboard and put the all-new Fairline Targa 58 GTO through its paces in heavy seas ahead of its Cannes debut

Fairline impressed with the Fairline Targa 47 Open, but the new Fairline Targa 58 takes the concept further. By removing the flybridge, Fairline created a sleek, low-profile sportscruiser with a lower air draft and muscular aft haunches that combines open-air boating with all-weather GT comfort.

Performance and handling

Powered by twin Volvo Penta D13 1,000 hp shaft-drive diesels, the Targa 58 reaches nearly 33 knots. Its lower center of gravity and 26.5-ton displacement deliver responsive handling and a soft ride in rough seas.

At cruising speeds between 18 and 29 knots, fuel burn sits steady at ~10 L per nautical mile, yielding a range of roughly 220 nautical miles from its 2,800l tank.

Deck layout and beach club

Transom & garage: Teak waterfall steps lead to a hydraulic platform. The garage fits a Williams 325 tender and Seabob, featuring an integrated overhead rain shower and sound system.

Side balconies: Optional fold-down terraces expand cockpit deck space by 42%.

Flexible crew space: Set slightly above the platform to prevent water ingress, the lazarette can be configured for storage, a day head, or a single crew berth.

Foredeck: Features wraparound seating for up to eight, a fold-out table, and sun pads with adjustable backrests.

Main deck and accommodation

The aft patio glass lowers completely into the engine bay, joining the cockpit and interior galley into a continuous, single-level teak space topped by a large pneumatic sunroof. The helm features steepened displays to reduce glare, drop-down side windows, and an armrest-integrated joystick.

Below deck, the layout sleeps six across three cabins: a forward VIP with en-suite access, a starboard twin, and a full-beam master suite amidships featuring a midships king bed, deep hull windows, and a dedicated vanity.
