Hugo Andreae takes a tour of a much-anticipated release in all-weather boating, the redeveloped, all-new Botnia Targa 37
The Botnia Targa 37 has long been a benchmark for offshore capability, celebrated as one of the most rugged and sea-kindly motor yachts on the water.
Built in Finland and famously dubbed the ‘4×4 of the sea,’ this iconic model combines commercial-grade toughness with effortless handling. However, brand-new releases from Botnia are a rare event, making the arrival of the latest-generation Targa 37 a major moment for boaters.

As Hugo puts it, if the previous generation was the marine equivalent of a Land Rover Defender, this refined new version is definitely leaning toward the Range Rover.
The transformation begins under the waterline with a brand-new planing hull. Thanks to a wider beam, the boat should gain significant dynamic stability and tracking at speed, alongside a noticeable boost in interior volume.
Cruising practicality remains a top priority across the exterior layout: the oversized bathing platform offers easy access to the stern drives, dedicated fender storage keeps the decks clear, and thick, chunky side-boarding gates make stepping onto pontoon moorings effortless.
From the optional powder-coated stainless steel deck fittings to the flush-fit bonded glass windows and expanded flybridge (complete with versatile, reversible seating and a dynamic helm station) exterior features strikes a deliberate balance between heavy-duty utility and sleek, contemporary design.
Step inside the main saloon, and the extra beam immediately pays dividends. Moving away from the compact forward layout of its predecessor, the new Targa 37 features a proper full-sized galley in the main cabin, beautifully framed in teak cabinetry.
Smart touches like an integrated sliding chopping board that doubles as sink-cover storage keep surfaces clutter-free. Opposite the galley, the comfortable dinette converts into an additional berth and offers cleverly engineered storage, including custom spaces for Targa-branded crockery and glassware.
At the helm, skipper comfort is guaranteed by an adjustable suspension seat, traditional wooden steering wheel, and overhead Volvo Penta engine displays alongside a full suite of Raymarine electronics.
Prices for the Targa 37 start at approximately £576,000 (ex. VAT), rising to around £890,000 (inc. VAT) for a fully optioned flagship specification. For buyers seeking high-speed performance, unmatched sea-keeping ability, and elevated interior comfort, the new Targa 37 proves you don’t have to sacrifice practical durability to travel in style.
